A disappointing week with very poor availability (48 players unavailable and 7 injured). As a result there was only one win and five defeats for our Saturday league sides; this despite having the advantage of batting first in four of the six games on a very hot day.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1^st XI travelled to Rainham 1^st XI and batting first were 70-2 but a five wicket collapse saw the side reduced to 78-7 and a final total of 120. Nick Gosling (38) and Ian Turnbull (25). The home side had no difficulty passing this target, which they did in the 27th over with Richard Nolde taking 2-16.  This result leaves the team in 6^th position in the Division at the hallway stage of the season.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI entertained Woodham Mortimer 1^st XI and batting first totalled 255-7 in their 45 overs, Toby Turner (62), James Ellis (50) and Chris Frost (44*). This seemed a defendable score but dropping at least 8 catches enabled the visitors to pass the required score in the 42^nd over for the loss of 2 wickets with the Woodham opener scoring 180*. This result leaves the team anchored to the bottom position in the Division.

Mixed fortunes for our six Saturday League sides with three wins, a tie and two defeats.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1^st XI entertained in form Canvey Island 1^st XI, who elected to bat first. The visitors struggled against some tight bowling and fielding and were bowled out for 132 in the 43^rd over, Ian Bryant taking 3-14. Ben Francis (58) and Jason Ox (28*) led the Rayleigh reply and they won in the 35^th over for the loss of four wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI travelled to play High Roding 1^st XI, neither side having won a game yet this season. The home side batted first and scored 199-7 in their 45 overs, Chris Frost taking 5-59. Three players made useful contributions to the reply, Steven Lynch (62) Mark Acraman (57*) and Andy Impey (42) but requiring two runs off the last ball the batsmen were only able to run a single leg bye to finish as a tie on 199-8 leaving both teams still looking for a first victory this season.

A disappointing week after last week’s successes and much improved availability with two wins and three defeats for the five Saturday League sides in action. Still not scoring enough runs in most teams with one notable exception this week.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1^st XI entertained Old Chelmsfordians 1^st XI and elected to bat first. Four players scored 20 or more runs, Dan Frost (33), Will Nolde (26), Jon Cook (24) and Jason Ox (22) but no one was able to build a big match winning innings and the side was bowled out for 151. Once again this did not seem to be a competitive score. However, the visitors fared even worse at the crease and from scores of 17-3 and 49-7 their innings ended on an all out score of 82, Shaun Du Plessis (4-29) and Ian Bryant (3-22) to give the 1^st XI a win by 69 runs

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI travelled to play Ingatestone 1^st XI who batted first and scored 213-9, Chris Frost taking 3-58. As with the 1^st XI four players scored 20 or more, Mark Acraman (35*), Will Wheeler (24), James Ellis (24) and Andy Impey (20) but the innings closed on 171-8 to leave the side still looking for a first victory. At last a better day for Rayleigh Cricket Club with five wins and one defeat for our Saturday League sides together some tight finishes,

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1^st XI went to play Great Baddow 1^st XI and batting first were reduced to 51-4 but a fifth wicket partnership of 101 between Dan Frost (54) and Jon Cook (47) enabled Rayleigh to finish on 208-8.  This target looked too low as the home side were ahead of the required run rate at 78-1 but tight bowling from Ian Turnbull (3-49) and Richard Nolde (3-42) turned the game to the visitor’s favour and Baddow were bowled out for 177. 

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI hosted Noak Hill Taverners 1^st XI who batted first and amassed 293-8 with one batsmen scoring 166. Will Wheeler taking 3-47. In reply Mark Acraman (51) and George Barker (33) gave some respectability to the final total of 208-7.

A slightly better week with two wins and four defeats for our six Saturday League sides but still not scoring enough runs in any team.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1^st XI entertained top of the table Springfield 1^st XI and batting first were reduced to 33 for the loss of 5 wickets. Ian Turnbull (34) and Will Wheeler (21) added a small degree of respectability to the scoreboard but the final total of 122 clearly was not good enough and the visitors passed this target in the 23rd over for the loss of 3 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI travelled to play Burnham Sports 1^st XI who batted first and scored 193-8, Tom Godfrey taking 3-16 and Richard Nolde 3-34. Only Matt Verrinder (30) made a reasonable score as the team subsided to an all out score of 115.

A bad day for the fourth week of the League season with all six Saturday League sides losing.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI travelled to Coxtie Green to play Bentley 1^st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 215, Ian Turnbull taking 3-49 and Ian Bryant 2-38. The Rayleigh innings started well with Ben Francis (36) leading the way but another batting collapse saw the innings subside to an all out total of 137 and a 78 run defeat.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI hosted Eastwood 1^st XI on and batting first totalled 204-8, Andy Impey (50), Steven Lynch (47) and Toby Turner (45) leading the way. The bowlers reduced the visitors to 127-9, Graham Herbert (3-27) and a first victory of the season looked on the cards but an unbeaten tenth wicket stand of 78 took Eastwood to a one wicket win.

A marginally better week than last week with one win and five defeats for our six Saturday League sides despite very poor availability with players going to Madrid and half-term holidays and still not scoring enough runs in some teams.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained newcomers to the Division Great Totham 1^st XI and winning the toss elected to bat first. Four players got to score more 20 or more runs, Adam Vyse (28), Toby Turner (23), Nick Gosling (22) and Dan Frost (20) but none could convert that into a big score and the side was bowled out for 172 in the 37^th over, which did not seem to be a competitive score. In the visitor’s reply wickets fell fairly regularly but an excellent spell of bowling from debutant, Richard Nolde (5-22) saw the visitors fall short by 13 runs in a nervy finish to the game.  

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI travelled to play Brookweald 1^st XI who batted first and scored 193-8, Nick Green taking 3-20 and Chris Frost 3-47. Steven Lynch (118) and Matt Verrinder (55) gave the side an excellent opportunity to get their first win of the season but the innings closed on 222, two runs short of victory.

Not a great day again for the second week of the League season with one cancelled game, one win and four defeats for our six Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI were due to travel to play Aythorpe Roding but after a League Umpire’s inspection of the ground the game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI hosted newcomers to the League. Basildon & Pitsea 1^st XI on a day when bowlers were clearly on top. The visitors batted first and were bowled out for 116, Chris Frost taking 3-16, Shaun DuPlessis 3-30 and Ian Bryant 2-24. Tight bowling and excellent fielding by the visitors restricted Rayleigh to an all out total of 98, only Ian Bryant (27) making any real contribution to the score.

Not a great day for the start of the League season with cold winds and frequent showers. One win, one tie and four defeats for our six Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI hosted Stock 1^st XI and batting first in a game shortened to 33 overs scored 196-7, Ben Francis (45), Dan Frost (37) and Nick Gosling (30) leading the scoring. In reply Stock scored 177-5, Ian Turnbull taking 3-62.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2^nd XI visited Terling 1^st XI who batting first totalled166-8, Aaron Acraman taking 3-42. In their innings Rayleigh subsided to an all out total of 84, only James Ellis (33) making any real contribution to the score.
