Report of week ending 5 June

Another disappointing week for the Club with one win and five losses for Rayleigh Cricket Club’s six Saturday League sides and all four colts games lost.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained Springfield 1st XI, who batted first and scored 224-8, Ian Bryant taking 3-14.  Once again Rayleigh wickets fell regularly against some quality spin bowling and they were bowled out for 113. 

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI travelled to Terling 1st XI and batting first scored 139 all out, only Danny Frost (43) and Chris Frost (40) troubling the bowlers. The home side passed this target for the loss of 2 wickets     

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI visited Billericay St Johns 1st XI and invited to bat were bowled out for 31, the home side scoring 35-1 in reply.      

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI hosted South Weald 2nd XI and batting first scored 151-8, Tony Catling (43) top scoring.  The visitors looked to be cruising to an easy victory but a mid-order collapse left them needing 3 runs to win with one wicket left but a boundary off the first ball of the penultimate over saw the visitors home.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI were at home to Little Baddow 2nd XI, who batted first and scored 175-5.  The 5th XI came agonisingly close to chasing down this target but fell short by 3 runs, Glenn Coleman (47*) and Alan Brown (30) leading the reply.    

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI travelled to Danbury to play newcomers to the League Oaklands. Batting first the 6th XIposted 187-7, Dave Turner (48), Toby Turner (33), Jack Himpfen-Jones (29) and Rebecca Holyoak (27) leading the scoring. The home side were bowled out for 97, Tom Godfrey taking 2-3 off 7 overs and Tom Lopez 2-8.  

Beaumont Seymour Ladies League. A weakened Women and Girls XI travelled to Old Chelmsfordians and only managed to score 49 for 8 in their innings, which score the hosts passed for the loss of 1 wicket. 

 

Warsop T20 League. Rayleigh scored 179-9 in their 20 overs against Tillingham who scored 120-9, Ian Turnbull taking 2-10 and Ian Bryant 2-25.

 

The Sunday XI hosted St Aidans, who batting first scored 218 all out, Rebecca Holyoak taking 4-20 off 6.1 overs. The Club’s batting woes continued as the side were bowled out for 93, Alan Brown (29).

 

Under 15 SEDCB East League.   Rayleigh Eagles batted first against Hadeigh and were bowled out for 50, Jess Walker (23). Hadleigh passed this total for the loss of 4 wickets. Aaron Unsworth taking 2-1 in his only over and Tom Lopez 2-14.

 

Under 13 SEDCB East League.   Rayleigh Eagles batted first against Leigh and scored 95 all out, Matt Bumpus (26).

Leigh passed this total for the loss of 3 wickets.

 

Under 13 SEDCB West League.  Benfleet scored 197-4 in their 24 overs, Jamie McGurn taking 2-13, Rayleigh Wyverns scoring 59-10 in reply.

 

Under 11 SEDCB East League.  Hadleigh 275-3 net 260, Rayleigh 250-7 net 215. Lost by 45 runs.
