Weekly report – 19th May 2019

A slightly better week with two wins and four defeats for our six Saturday League sides but still not scoring enough runs in any team.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained top of the table Springfield 1st XI and batting first were reduced to 33 for the loss of 5 wickets. Ian Turnbull (34) and Will Wheeler (21) added a small degree of respectability to the scoreboard but the final total of 122 clearly was not good enough and the visitors passed this target in the 23rd over for the loss of 3 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI travelled to play Burnham Sports 1st XI who batted first and scored 193-8, Tom Godfrey taking 3-16 and Richard Nolde 3-34. Only Matt Verrinder (30) made a reasonable score as the team subsided to an all out score of 115.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI hosted Ongar 1st XI, and batting first were all out for 165, Steve Adams (56), Mike Law (26) and Tom Osbourn (20). The visitors passed this target in the 25th over for the loss of 4 wickets, David Hall taking 2-27.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 6. The 4th XI went to Danbury to play their 1st XI and bowled the home side out for 110, Mihir Patel taking 4-19 and John Wright 3-26. John Wright (45*) and Neil Noble (31*) led the 4th XI to a 6 wicket victory in the 39th over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 9. The 5th XI visited Rankins 3rd XI, who batting first scored 161-6, Jamie Coleman taking 3-14 and Sam Levett 2-34. Ray Hart (72*) and Steve Rothon (34*) led the 5th XI to an 8 wicket victory.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. Oaklands were the visitors to the 6th XI, who batting first were bowled out for 133, Richard Verrinder (30) and Sean Treweek (26) top scoring. Mark Callaway (3-54) looked to have given the home side a chance of their first win of the season taking three early wickets including their high scoring opener but despite an economical spell from captain, Paul Cox (2-13), Oaklands recovered to win by 3 wickets in the 34th over.

Beaumont Seymour League. The Women and Girls XI were without a game this weekend.

Under15s Peters Cup. Playing against Rankins, the Under 15s scored 114-4 in their 20 overs James Balkwill (32*) and Aaron Mayfield (24). In reply Rankins scored 86-8, James Balkwill 2-10 and Archie Callaway 2-13.
