Weekly report – 12th May 2019

Not a great day again for the second week of the League season with one cancelled game, one win and four defeats for our six Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI were due to travel to play Aythorpe Roding but after a League Umpire’s inspection of the ground the game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI hosted newcomers to the League. Basildon & Pitsea 1st XI on a day when bowlers were clearly on top. The visitors batted first and were bowled out for 116, Chris Frost taking 3-16, Shaun DuPlessis 3-30 and Ian Bryant 2-24. Tight bowling and excellent fielding by the visitors restricted Rayleigh to an all out total of 98, only Ian Bryant (27) making any real contribution to the score.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI went to Writtle to play their 2nd XI, who batted first and scored 171-9 in their 45 overs, Sam Verrinder (3-26) and Tom Godfrey (3-45). Sam Law and Martin Sanderson, both scoring 37, led Rayleigh to a 3 wicket victory in the 40th over.   

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 6. The 4th XI entertained Ingatestone 2nd XI, and batting first scored 134-8, Brad Walker (24) top scoring. In reply the visitors looked in some difficulty at one point but a couple of difficult chances went to ground and they passed their target for the loss of 7 wickets, John Wright taking 3-22 and Mihir Patel 2-20.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 9. The 5th XI hosted Division 8 side Boreham 2nd and batting first scored 153-6, Phll Hammond (48) and Ray Hart (45) top scoring. Boreham passed this target for the loss of 2 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 6th XI visited South Woodham Ferrers 3rd XI and batting first scored 124-7, Murray Hall (24). The home side passed this score for the loss of 2 wickets,  

Beaumont Seymour League. The Women and Girls XI went to play Old Chelmsfordians Ladies and batting first started brightly, Kelly Castle retiring on 25. After her departure scoring slowed down and the innings finished on 65-4. The home side passed this score in the 14th over for the loss of 3 wickets,
