Maldon Ladies vs. Rayleigh Ladies

Its getting closer!

Friday evening saw the Rayleigh Ladies on the road again for our second league match away to Maldon. This time the weather was warmer but the sky was still heavy with dark clouds but thankfully it stayed dry. Maldon went into bat first and managed to rack up 114 runs in their twenty overs. Rayleigh working together in the field and keeping the run rate down. This week Rayleigh ladies took 3 wickets in the match, one each for Zoe, Lorraine and Jane. Great bowling figures for Zoe 17/1 from 4 overs. Also some impressive bowling from Louise H, don’t underestimate her size, she packs quite a punch!

Sophie took up her place at the crease and again didn’t come back in for 20 overs, posting another 21 not out. This week Elinor made it in to bat and made 14 not out before running out of overs.

Does anyone look like they are enjoying themselves more than Elinor? She was like a whippet in the field, charging round the boundary backing up fielders and with a great arm getting the ball back in to save runs. A pupil of the ‘Brian Dawbarn’ school of cricketing her straight bat and front foot drive was a joy to behold! Zoe also showed she could swing a bat as well as bowl with 18. Rayleigh finished 79/3.

Well done ladies, another great match. Bring on the Woodham ladies, were ready!
