Wins on 6th August for 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs

The 1st XI travelled to Little Baddow and batting first scoring 236-9, Jon Cook top scoring with 78. The hosts passed this score with the loss of 3 wickets, a result which leaves the 1st XI firmly anchored to the bottom spot in the league and needing at least 3 wins in the final 4 games to have any chance of staying up.

The 2nd XI entertained Rainham 1st XI who batted first and were all out for 134, Shree taking 3-26. In reply the 2nd XI scored 135-7, a result which takes them to the top of the table.

The 3rd XI hosted Southend Echo Monarchs Trojans and batting first were all out for 155, Adam Dudmish (26) and Richard Verrinder (25) leading the scoring. They then bowled out the away side for 87, Adam Dudmish taking 4-36.

The 4th XI visited Rayne 2nd XI and batting first scored 213-8, Simon Harwood (46) and Tony Catling (48) top scoring. They bowled out the hosts for 139, Steve Elsdon taking 3-24.

Havering Atte Bower 3rd XI were the visitors to Purleigh to play the 5th XI who batted for 45 overs for 88-9 a score which which the visitors passed for the loss of 1 wicket.

The 6th XI entertained Writtle 3rd XI who batted first and were all out for 183, Mike Humphrey taking 3-38. At 80-2 after 20 overs, a win looked possible but after Matt Belcher was out for 61, the innings folded to an all out total of 123.

Rankins visited the Club to start the annual cricket week on Tuesday to play a team of players who were playing for the Club in the 1980’s but were too strong for the home side some of whom had not played for several years. A pleasant social evening followed with many old friendships being renewed.

Pegasus & Corringham were the visitors on Wednesday. Rayleigh batted first and scored 202 all out, Anees (59) and Matt Gilmore (38) leading the scoring. In reply Pegasus were all out for 150, John Stirk taking 3-38 and Chris Eldridge 2-26.

Thursday’s game v Ardleigh Green was cancelled without a ball being bowled.

On Friday the Women & Girls XI entertained Maldon Ladies and ran out winners by 23 runs.
