Wins for the 2s, 4s, 5s, 6 Eagles and Sunday XI

Aythorpe Roding travelled to Rayleigh to play the 1st XI and batted first scoring 285, Jon Cook taking 3-43. In reply the 1st XI were all out for 154, Jason Ox (60) top scoring.

The 2nd XI were away at Purleigh and batting first scored 247-5, Chris Frost 56*, John Stirk (53) and Andy Impey leading the scoring. Purleigh then scored 165-8, Ben Stevens taking 3-40 and John Stirk 3-50.

The 3rd XI travelled to Mountnessing and batting first scored 251-8, Alex Jones (68) and Darren Smith (45) leading the scoring. This looked a useful total but the home side passed this score for the loss of 1 wicket.

The 4th XI entertained St Andrews, who batted first and were all out for 91, Steve Elsdon taking 4-9 and Matt Walker 4-37. Against a strong bowling attack, the 4th XI struggled in their innings but Steve Elsdon (34*) saw them home to a 4 wicket victory

The 5th XI were away at Eastwood 4th XI and batting first were all out for a disappointing 117. A fine spell of bowling by Tom Godfrey (5-22) resticted Eastwood to an all out score of 102 to give the 5s a 15 run victory.

The 6th XI Eagles entertained Stanford-le-Hope 5th XI who batted first and were all out for 131, David Hall taking 3-22 and Neil Kelly 3-27. At 58-5 after 15 overs, the prospects did not look good but an excellent innings of 55 not out from Steven Lynch saw the Eagles home by 1 wicket.

 

The 6th XI Dragons entertained Wenlock Arms from Shoreditch who batted first and scored 162, Alex Belcher taking 3-14 in his first bowling spell in an adult game. Matt Belcher (43) and Sam Ahamed (24) top scored as the Dragons fell short by 32 runs.

Warsop Sunday League The Sunday XI entertained Essex Carriers who batted first and scored 200-5, Ian Bryant taking 2-23. In a tight finish Rayleigh passed this score for the loss of 8 wickets, Liam Druce (55) and Nick Gosling (35) leading the reply .
