Report of week ending 13 July

Four wins and two defeats for the Saturday League sides.

The 1st XI travelled to Ingatestone 1st XI who batted first and scored 174 all out, Danny Frost taking 4-55 and Chris Frost 2-3. Rayleigh passed this target for the loss of three wickets, Jon Cook (75*) and Andy Impey (40) leading the reply.

The 2nd XI hosted Terling 1st XI, who batted first and scored 199 having been 94-6 at one stage in their innings, Liam Druce taking 3-29. At 81-6 in their innings the 2nd XI looked to be facing defeat but 7th (56) and 8th wicket (63*) stands by Sree (51*), Colin Mayor (24) and Sam Verrinder (40*) saw them home by 3 wickets.

The 3rd XI entertained St Johns Billericay 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 89, James Wratten taking 4-15, Nick Green 4-22 and Josh Jones 2-12. The 3rd XI passed this target for the loss of four wickets.

The 4th XI visited Hockley and batting first scored 159-7, Phil Wolff scoring 64 not out. Hockley were bowled out for 103, Sam Levett taking 4-37 and Max Jones taking 4-3.

In a top of the table game the 5th XI went to Galleywood 2nd XI and lost the toss on a difficult, wet pitch batting first scored 125-9. As the sun dried out the pitch the hosts had much the easier of the conditions and knocked the required runs off for the loss of five wickets to replace the 5th XI at the top of the table.

The 6th XI played Goresbrook 4th XI at Rawreth Lane. Batting first Chris Slough (28), Phil Hammond (31) and Simon Lennox gave the 6th XI a good start but when Simon retired hurt also on 31 the innings lost momentum and finished on 151-8, a target the visitors reached for the loss of three wickets.

The 7th XI friendly against Matthews was cancelled by Basildon Council on Friday afternoon as the pitch at Wickford Memorial was waterlogged.

Colts

Batting first Rayleigh Under 15As scored 111-6, Conor Slough (33) and Craig Smith (20) top scoring. In reply Horndon Under 15s scored 112-4 with three balls to spare, Tom Lopez taking 2-23.

Batting first Rayleigh Under 15Bs scored 57, Jess Walker (23). Southend EMT Under 15Bs scored 58-4 Cameron MacDonald taking 2-14. .

The Sunday Under 11 and Under 13 games were cancelled due to heavy rainfall in the morning.
