Report of week ending 26 May

  1. The 1st XI were the only Saturday League team to lose.

    The1st XI hosted Hatfield Peverell who batting first scored 173-9, Danny White taking 4-33. Only Marcus Cornish (42) troubled the bowlers as Rayleigh subsided to an all out total of 119.

    The 2nd XI travelled to Galleywood 1st XI and batting first totalled 241-6, Nick Gosling (76) and Chris Eldridge (44) leading the scoring. Galleywood came close to this total at 215-7 with Nick Green, Adam Keeley and Mike Law all taking 2 wickets.

    The 3rd XI were due to play Bluehouse at Rawreth Lane but disappointingly the opposition were unable to raise a side.

    The 4th XI went to Woodham Mortimer 2nd XI who batting first scored 176-6, Richard Mantell taking 3-38. Daryl Ox (59*), Phil Wolff (38) led the 4th XI to a 3 wicket victory.

    The 5th XI were at home to Thurrock 3rd XI who batted first and scored 184-8, Sam Martin taking 2-17. Tony Catling (82) and Steven Lynch (37) led the reply and the 5th XI passed the target to win by two wickets.

    The 6th XI were away at Thurrock 4th XI who were bowled out for 83, Phil Hammond taking 3-18 in 8 overs. An unbroken fourth wicket stand of 56 between Chris Slough (25*) and Duncan Bond (24*) saw the 6th XI home by 6 wickets.

    The Women & Girls XI were due to host Great Waltham on Friday evening but the match was rained off without a ball being bowled.

    The Sunday XI continued their winning ways in the Warsop Sunday League with a 17 run victory against Billericay. Batting first Rayleigh scored175-9, Jason Ox (32). Billericay were all out for 158, Ian Bryant taking 4-41 and Paul Davies 3-29.

    The Under 15As played their 2nd round Cup match against Basildon Under 15s who were invited to bat and in a 15 over match scored 65-7, Conor Slough taking 3-9. Rayleigh passed this score for the loss of three wickets, Steven Lynch (31) and Tom Child (18) top scoring.  See separate report.
