Weekly report – 24th June 2018

Only one win for the five Saturday league sides who played but a welcome first win for the 1st XI.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI visited neighbours Rettendon 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 139, Ian Bryant taking 4-26 and Will Nolde 3-18.  Rayleigh passed the target for the loss of 4 wickets in the 25th over, Phil Everitt (74*) and Jason Ox (23*) leading the scoring and giving the team a much needed victory. However, with some of the teams above them winning as well they will need a more successful second half of the season to avoid relegation.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 2nd XI entertained top of the table Great Baddow 1st XI who batted first and scored 265-10, Chris Frost taking 3-38 and Dan Frost 3-64. In a spirited reply a ninth wicket partnership of 94 between Richard Nolde (52*) and Chris Frost (46) nearly helped the 2nd XI to a victory. Dan Frost (41) also scored well during the Rayleigh reply but they were finally bowled out for 244 in the 44th over to lose by 21 runs. The Great Baddow players were amazed the 2nd XI were bottom as it had been by far the best game of the season they had played in.

Weekly report – 17th June 2018

A slightly better week for the Club with two Saturday league sides winning but still no win for the 1st XI and three other losses and the Women’s XI losing too.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI visited unbeaten Springfield 1st XI who scored 276-6 in their 45 overs Will Wheeler taking 4-26.  This total proved well out of reach for the 1st XI who were bowled out for 155 in the 41st over, only Phil Everitt (44) mastering the bowling.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 2nd XI entertained Springfield 2nd XI who batted first and scored 226-10, Ian Bryant taking 5-46.  Steven Lynch (57) and James Ellis (42) looked to have set Rayleigh on their way to victory but two run outs upset this progress and Rayleigh were bowled out for 184 in the 39th over.

Weekly report – 10th June 2018

Continuing poor availability and an inability to score runs quickly enough cost the club dear again with one win and five defeats for the Saturday league sides. Highlight was an excellent victory for the Under 16 XI in their first ever Trevor Bailey Matchplay competition game.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained Goresbrook 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 147 in the 44th over, Andy Impey (43) and Will Nolde (31) leading the scoring. This total was never likely to be enough and the visitors passed their target for the loss of three wickets in the 33rd over, Ian Turnbull taking 2-35.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  A very depleted 2nd XI travelled to high flying Great Totham 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 127 in the 35th over, Darren Smith (41) and Luke Sullivan (20). The home side knocked off the necessary runs in the 20th over.

Weekly report – 26th May 2018

A particularly disappointing week for the Club with 30 regular players unavailable and every Saturday league side losing and the women’s team losing their first League game too.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained Rainham who batted first and started badly with 3 wickets down for 20 runs. However, the later batsmen recovered the situation well and the innings ended on 219-9.  Phil Everitt (56) gave the home side’s innings a good start but with some slow scoring thereafter the required run rate crept up. Ben Francis scored a rapid 37 and an eighth wicket stand of 50 between Ian Bryant (27) and Will Wheeler (23) appeared to give Rayleigh a chance of meeting their target but when they were both out the innings closed 17 runs short in the 44th over

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 2nd XI travelled to top of the table Stock 1st XI who batted first and scored 225 all out, Jess Walker taking 4-40 and Dan Frost 4-48. Dan Frost (60) gave the 2nd XI a great start but had no support from anyone else and the innings fizzled out on 106 all out in the 24th over.

What happened to the website then?

Unfortunately we had to take down the club’s website. Our hosting company had suspended the site due to the site being hacked and used for some nefarious activity. We’ve had to install new software and get a basic site running for now.

The club’s online portal management, social media marketing and brand awareness teams will be collaborating on a major migration project to populate this new site with useful content from the previous one. We’ve started this by migrating all the pages from the old site under the “Categories” menu on the right.

Please bear with us during this transitional phase.
