Rayleigh CC report – week ending 20Aug17

A mixed day with two wins, three defeats and that most unusual result – a tied match – for the Saturday League teams.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI hosted Great Baddow 1st XI who were scored an impressive 219-6 with Phil Everitt taking 3-58. In reply Rayleigh struggled to match the required run rate and were all out for 151. Only George Barker (41) and Ian Turnbull (23*) made any real impression with the bat.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI visited Terling and bowled out their hosts for just 48. The bowling was led by Sam Verrinder (4-14) and two wickets each for Dan Frost and Richard Abley. In reply the 2nd XI also struggled to score runs and were 7-5 when Colin Mayor (24) and Chris Frost (15*) came together and helped the team to a 3 wicket win.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. Rayne 1st XI were the visitors to the 3rd XI whobatted first and were all out for 193 from their 45 overs, Mark Bailey (45) and Sam Law (58) being the main run scorers. Rayne replied with 193-8 but were unable to overtake the home sides score with Mike Law and James Wratten both taking two wickets for a great finish, two run outs and a tied match.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI travelled to Goresbrook 3rd XI who scored 153-6 from their 45 overs with Tom Lopez taking 3-41. Batting second the 4th XI won the game by 4 wickets with Duncan Baldwin carrying his bat with 83* and Matt Walker (35) leading the scoring.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8.  The 5th XI entertained East Hanningfield 2nd XI and scored 139-6 with Simon Harwood (26), Richard Verrinder (22) and Simon Lennox (29) being the best of the batsmen. This total was reached by the visitors for the loss of 5 wickets in the 37th over with Lee Harding taking 2-25.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 6th XI travelled to South Woodham Ferrers 3rd XI and batted first for 125. Sean Treweek (26) and William Morris (20*) leading the scoring. The home team passed this total for 6 wickets.
