The 5th XI were due to play Hullbridge 2nd XI but for the second week running an opposition were unable to raise a side so another Saturday passed by for eleven of our cricketers without cricket on a sunny afternoon!

The 6th (Dragons) XI were at home to Chelmsford 6th XI, who batting first were bowled for 71, Conor Slough taking 3-16. A feature of the innings was that seven catches being taken including four by Chris Slough. Nick Buckley (53*) led the Dragons to an excellent seven wicket win.

On Sunday the Club ran a Charity 6 a side event on President’s Day in aid of ‘Scotty’s Little Soldiers’, a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and women killed whilst serving in the British Armed Forces. Each side played 2 games in a 3 team format and then a further game against a team from the other league. A heavy downpour half way through the afternoon flooded the square and looked to have washed out the event but the sun came out and we were able to complete the competition. The final saw Andy Impey’s side edge out the favourites captained by Matt Williams in an exciting final. Thanks to Marie Kelly for all the hard work she put into organising the sponsorship and food for yesterday’s event. Also to the cooks and Colin for manning the bar. Also to our sponsors for donating the raffle and champagne moment prizes. Nick Gosling topped the scoring, Alex Jones the bowling and Louise Kirby the champagne player of the day.
