Weekly report – 7th July 2019

Much improved availability and a better week with three wins, a tie and two defeats for our Saturday league sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI travelled to Stock 1st XI and batting first amassed 289-7 Dan Frost 121 and Mark Acraman 38*.  This appeared to be a winning total at tea but with some wayward bowling conceding more than 50 extras and small boundaries the result was in doubt for much of the home side’s innings.  In the event Rayleigh squeezed home by 22 runs. Dan Frost taking 3-22 and Ian Bryant 3-44.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI entertained Terling 1st XI and batting first totalled 244 all out in their 45 overs, James Ellis (74), Andy Impey (43) and Jack Nolde (41). Tight bowling by Richard Abley (5-22) and Aaron Acraman (3-24) restricted the visitors to an all out total of 107 in the 35th over to give the team their first League victory of the season and lift them off the bottom of the table.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI went to play St John’s Billericay 1st XI, who batting first were bowled out for 153, David Hall taking 3-27 and Nick Green 2-14. In reply Sam Verrinder (40*) and Kalpesh Patel (32) looked to have taken the team to victory but with the scores level the last wicket fell to leave Sam stranded at the other end.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 6. The 4th XI hosted top of the table, Brookweald 2nd XI, who batting first scored 190-7, Sam Harmsworth (2-41) and Calum Mayfield (2-42). Matt Walker (60), Ray Hart (35) and Tom Osbourn (34*) steered the team to an excellent 7 wicket victory.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 9. Beaulieu Park 2nd XI were the visitors to the 5th XI, who batting first scored 197-4, Glenn Coleman (74*) and Duncan Bond (59*) putting on 125 in an unbroken 5th wicket stand. The visitors passed the target for the loss of 7 wickets in the 36th over, Jamie Coleman taking 2-40 and Aaron Mayfield 2-36.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 6th XI travelled to top of the table Great Waltham 3rd Xi and batting first scored 150-6 in their 40 overs, Duncan Baldwin (39) and Jon Chase (20). The home side passed this total for the loss of 3 wickets in the 25th over, Paul Cox (2-23).

The 7th XI hosted Chelmsford 6th XI at Lake Meadows, Billericay, who batted first and scored 190all out. Katrina Mayfield (3-17), Freddie Noble (2-17) and John Attfield (2-34) being the pick of the bowlers. Neil Noble (38) and John Attfield (21) led the reply but the side was bowled for 158 to lose by 32 runs.

Beaumont Seymour League. Chelmsford Willows came to play Rayleigh at Rawreth Lane. Rayleigh score 104 in their innings, Kelly castle (30) and Louise Harmsworth (21) top scoring.  The visitors passed this score for the loss of 2 wickets in the 19th over.
