Four out of Four

Thurrock u12A 62-6

Rayleigh u12 64-2

Rayleigh win by 4 wickets

Team: Matt D (capt.), Max J, Joshua J., Henry H., Alex D., Conor S.

Thurrock lost the toss and Matt decided to field first.  With 2 changes to the team that played 3 weeks ago and the fact we’d last played 3 weeks ago we were all a bit uncertain of the best approach.

Henry opened the bowling and got a wicket in his first over, not a bad start. Conor bowled well with less reward and it was noticeable that the fielding was a bit lazy. Indoor cricket is a harsh environment and a couple of the players were clearly tired from a week’s school and assorted other sporting activities.  Josh and Alex were next on and bowled well, each picking up a wicket. Matt decided he wanted a bowl so was a bit concerned when Max came on and took two wickets in his first over – a double wicket maiden. However Matt did have a go, wasn’t too bad but didn’t gt the final qicket which was a run out.  We’d dismissed Thurrock A for 62 runs, pretty good when you look at their record.

The batting order started the same as normal with Max and Matt starting like trains – 42 runs in 4 overs.  However both got out letting Henry and Alex see the team home in the 7th over. Another solid win for the team.

Next week we play Horndon on the Hill.
