Weekly report – 24th June 2018

Only one win for the five Saturday league sides who played but a welcome first win for the 1st XI.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI visited neighbours Rettendon 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 139, Ian Bryant taking 4-26 and Will Nolde 3-18.  Rayleigh passed the target for the loss of 4 wickets in the 25th over, Phil Everitt (74*) and Jason Ox (23*) leading the scoring and giving the team a much needed victory. However, with some of the teams above them winning as well they will need a more successful second half of the season to avoid relegation.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 2nd XI entertained top of the table Great Baddow 1st XI who batted first and scored 265-10, Chris Frost taking 3-38 and Dan Frost 3-64. In a spirited reply a ninth wicket partnership of 94 between Richard Nolde (52*) and Chris Frost (46) nearly helped the 2nd XI to a victory. Dan Frost (41) also scored well during the Rayleigh reply but they were finally bowled out for 244 in the 44th over to lose by 21 runs. The Great Baddow players were amazed the 2nd XI were bottom as it had been by far the best game of the season they had played in.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI travelled to Rainham 2nd XI and batting first were skittled out for 93 in the 39th over, Jack Nolde scoring 39. The visitors passed this target in the 25th over for the loss of 4 wickets, James Wratten taking 2-13.             

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI hosted high flying Old Southendians 1st XI, and batting first scored 202-8, Mark Bailey (57), Kalpesh Patel (31) and Phil Wolff (30) top scoring. The visitors cruised to victory in the 30th over for the loss of 3 wickets, Kalpesh Patel taking 2-44.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8.  The 5th XI entertained Chignal 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 152 in the 39th over, Simon Lennox (75) leading the scoring. The visitors passed this target with ease in the 23rd over losing only one wicket.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 6th XI were due to play Bentley 4th XI at Coxtie Green but Bentley were unable to raise a side. Valiant efforts to find other opponents for a friendly game were unsuccessful so the players had no game.

Beaumont Seymour League South Division. Rayleigh Women & Girls travelled to Hutton and batting first scored129-3, Jodie Billett, Louise Harmsworth and Zoe Williams all retiring on 25. In reply, Hutton scored104-8, Jodie Billett taking 5-20, all bowled, and Louise Harmsworth 2-12.  

The 7th XI played Chelmsford 6th XI at Chelmer Park and batting first scored 144-6 in a friendly 40 over game, Elliot Davies (54) and Louise Harmsworth (29) featuring in a partnership of 100 for the second wicket.  In reply Chelmsford scored 147-4 in the 32nd over, Louise Harmsworth taking 3-24.
