Weekly report – 17th June 2018

A slightly better week for the Club with two Saturday league sides winning but still no win for the 1st XI and three other losses and the Women’s XI losing too.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI visited unbeaten Springfield 1st XI who scored 276-6 in their 45 overs Will Wheeler taking 4-26.  This total proved well out of reach for the 1st XI who were bowled out for 155 in the 41st over, only Phil Everitt (44) mastering the bowling.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 2nd XI entertained Springfield 2nd XI who batted first and scored 226-10, Ian Bryant taking 5-46.  Steven Lynch (57) and James Ellis (42) looked to have set Rayleigh on their way to victory but two run outs upset this progress and Rayleigh were bowled out for 184 in the 39th over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI travelled to Ongar 1st XI who batted first and scored 210-9, James Wratten taking 3-28. Matthew Verrinder (42) and Adam Vyse (38) led the reply but Rayleigh fell short by 57 runs in the 35th over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI hosted bottom of the table Havering-Atte-Bower 2nd XI, and batting first scored 228-5, Mark Bailey (66), Steve Gosling (51) and Kalpesh Patel (30) top scoring. The visitors were bowled out for 106, Kalpesh Patel taking 4-6 and Jai Patel 3-13.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8.  The 5th XI went to bottom side Burnham Sports 2nd XI and batting first were bowled out for 155 in the 40th over, Steve Rothon (37), Simon Lennox (36) and Tom Osbourn (30) leading the scoring. In a nail biting finish Burnham were bowled out 6 runs short in the final over, Andy James 3-22, Steve Rothon 3-25 and Edward Curtis 2-18. 

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 6th XI welcomed Galleywood 3rd XI who batted first and scored 192-7 in their 40 overs, Kuldeep Paik taking 3-36.  In reply Rayleigh were bowled for 98 in the 33rd over, Richard Verrinder (29).

Beaumont Seymour League South Division. Rayleigh Women & Girls hosted a strong Great Waltham side who batted first and totalled 134-4 in their 20 overs, Kelly Castle taking 2-14. In their innings, Rayleigh scored 123-2, Kelly Castle (28*) and Rebecca Holyoak (28*).

The 7th XI played Galleywood 4th XI at Margaretting and after a shaky start the home side scored 181all out in a friendly 40 over game, Sam Harmsworth taking 5-24 and Paul Harmsworth 3-5.  In reply Rayleigh scored 105 all out, Joe Athol (31).
