Rayleigh Women & Girls first win

Rayleigh Women & Girls home to Copdock

The Rayleigh Ladies made a great start to their final game on Friday playing against Copdock from the North division in the Beaumont Senior League play-off match, winning the toss and choosing to field first.

Up to bowl first were Lorraine and Louise H and the field all ready Louise H took a great wicket in her first 2 overs. Marie then managed to get a great catch from Louise’s bowling so that was 2 down with Rayleigh looking good in the field. Then there was another catch with Lorraine’s bowling with Francesca catching it behind the stumps. This game seems to be going Rayleigh’s way with all the team walking in and backing up. The next lady to go was with a run out, and another bowled by Michelle King and all looking well for Rayleigh. The next lady was a good teamwork by Louise H and Marie with another catch. Michelle bowled another 2 ladies out and Kelly bowled another. Copdock were bowled out for 65 with Michelle King and Louise Harmsworth both claiming 3 wickets, Lorraine Frost and Kelly Castle each getting 1 wicket.

The Rayleigh ladies then decided their batting order and out to the wicket first were Loraine and Michelle with winning in mind. Lorraine was out for 0 I think that this was due to playing to much beach cricket while away with Mr Frost and the family. Next in was Amy McGowan who managed to keep hitting the ball to the end with a great total of 13 runs. Michelle was then bowled out for 14 with Marie in then but only managed to get 4, Colette was then in then out with a total of 5 runs it was not looking good for Rayleigh with 5 ladies down already then Zoe went out and managed to sail Rayleigh ladies home with 8 not out with Amy McGowan.

All the Rayleigh Ladies played well in this game with their field bowling and batting. The bus will be touring around the Rayleigh ground next Friday to celebrate the first win of the Rayleigh ladies team.
