Wins for 2nd, 4th and Sunday XIs

The 1st XI visited High Roding. Batting first Rayleigh were all out for 134, only Marcus Cornish (42) and Ian Bryant (30) making any significant contribution to the score. The hosts passed this score for the loss of 4 wickets, Richard Abley 3-23. Results elsewhere mean that the 1st XI are now bottom of the table.

The 2nd XI were at home to High Easter and batting first scored 236-5, John Stirk (58), Steve Adams (55) and Anees (43) top scoring. They bowled the visitors out for 104, George Barker taking 6-33.

The 3rd XI entertained unbeaten top of the table Writtle 2nd XI and were all out for 113, Paul Davies 29 being the main contibutor. The visitors struggled against accurate bowling by Mark Acraman (6-32) and Nick Green (2-16) but scraped home by 1 wicket.

The 4th XI travelled to top of the table Rankins 3rd XI who batted first and were all out for 173, Simon Harwood and Brad Walker leading the 4th XI to a 3 wicket victory

The 5th XI entertained unbeaten top of the table Great Baddow 3rd XI and batting first were 105 -8 from their 45 overs, Luke Keeley top scoring with 31. The visitors passed this score for the loss of 6 wickets, Lloyd Sabatini taking 3 wickets.

The 6th XI Eagles travelled to Cranham to play Upminster 7thXI who batted first and were restricted to 51-4 runs in the first 20 overs but recovered to 145 all out which included 48 extras, Conor Slough taking 2-17 off 7.2 overs. In reply Rayleigh were all out for 95, Phil Hammond (27) top scoring.

 

The 6th XI Dragons entertained Harlow 5th XI and batting first scored 123-8, Simon Lennox 26 leading the scoring. The visitors passed this score in the 29th over for the loss of 3 wickets.

Warsop Sunday League The Sunday XI entertained Wickford who batted first and scored 145, which Rayleigh passed for the loss of 7 wickets.

Total wash out on Saturday. Both U13A and U15A sides reach South Essex District semi-finals

All five Saturday league games and two friendly fixtures were washed out without a ball being bowled.

 

The Women & Girls XI challenge match against Sudbury, the fourth placed team in the North section was also cancelled as they could not raise a side to travel to Rayleigh.

Friendly The Sunday XI game v West Ham was restricted to a 20 over game due to rain. Batting first Rayleigh scored 132, Dayl Ox (45) and Matt Gilmore (25) top scoring. In reply the visitors totalled 121, Ian Bryant taking 2-23. Rayleigh won by 11 runs.

 

SEDCB West Group Rayleigh U15A 98-6 Christian Humpries 35 retired, George Barker 24, Gideon Humphries 18 off 4 balls. Wickford 48 all out, Sam Verrinder 4-7 off 4 overs, Owen Davies 2 -12. Rayleigh won by 50 runs. A brilliant bowling and fielding performance given that Wickford had only lost 11 wickets in the previous 5 games and means that the team has qualified for the semi-final of the Board competition.

 

SEDCB East Group Rayleigh U13A Rayleigh 140 for 8, Steve Lynch 26 not out and Luke Sullivan 28 not out. Rankins 122 for 4. Rayleigh won by 18 runs to finish top of East group and also qualify for the semi-final of the Board competition.

Friendly fixture Rayleigh Fairview Under 11s 268-4 net 248. Rayleigh U11s 261-5 net 236. Rayleigh Fairview won by 12 runs.

This game was a friendly against Rayleigh Fairview at their ground with our team a mix of A and B players. Alex was captain for the day, won the toss and decided to bowl first. Matt turned up at the last minute so 10 players took the field from the off. Would the game complete before the rain started?

2nd and 5th XIs the only two saturday Sides to win

The 1st XI visited Hatfield Peverel. Batting first Rayleigh were all out for 96, only Callum Ginbey (21) troubling the scorers. The hosts passed this score for the loss of 2 wickets.

The 2nd XI were at home to Navestock and Ardleigh Green 1st XI and batting first scored 270-8, John Stirk (63) and Chris Frost (43*) top scoring. They bowled the visitors out for 38, Shree taking 5-17.

The 3rd XI entertained Margaretting and scored 155 all out, Paul Davies 42 being the main contributor. In reply the vistors scored 156-4 to win by 6 wickets.

The 4th XI travelled to Chignal 2nd XI who batted first and were all out for 158, John Wright taking 3-18 off his 12 overs. At 97-1, Steve Elsdon (41) and Brad Walker (28) a comfortable win looked on the cards but the 4s collapsed to an all out total of 142 to lose by 16 runs.

The 5th XI played Hullbridge 2nd XI and batting first scored 231-9, Frank Tennyson (88). They then bowled out Hullbridge for 123, Adam Keeley taking 3-38.

The 6th Eagles XI  travelled to Leaden Roding to play Matching Green 3rd XI who batted first and scored 210-9, Sam Verrinder taking 4-19. and Max Jones 2-16. Only Sam Verrinder (33) featured in Rayleigh’s response of 104-9.

The 6th Dragons XI  entertained Stock 4th XI. The visitors batted first and tight bowling resticted them to an all out total of 107, David Cox taking 4-24 in his first game. Sam Martin also a first timer scored 25 but Rayleigh could only manage 80 all out to lose by 27 runs.

The Women & Girls XI played Great Waltham who scored 108. In reply Rayleigh scored 94 to lose by 14 runs.

Warsop Sunday League The Sunday XI travelled to Ingatestone who batted first and scored 167 Sean Druce taking 5-35. Rayleigh passed this score for the loss of 5 wickets, Jason Ox (79*) and Liam Druce (31) top scoring.

Southend Evening League. Rayleigh 123-2 Daryl Ox 75* and Liam Druce 31*. Rankins 117 all out Danny Frost 4-14 and Jason Ox 3-24. Rayleigh won by 6 runs.

Orsett U15 92 all out, Luke Keeley 3-25, Owen Davies 2-17. Rayleigh U15A 96-6 George Barker 35 retired. Rayleigh won by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare. 

Leigh 103-5, Cameron MacDonald 2-15. Rayleigh Under13B 104-8 Joseph Peppiatt 26*. Rayleigh won by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare

Another sunny Sunday dawned and 12 players turned up for the u11B game. Shame we only needed 10. Luckily Leigh turned up with 9 so after Kian earned Paul and my gratitude by volunteering to play for Leigh it was 11 versus 10.

First three Saturday sides win

The 1st XI visited Pegasus and Corringham, who are hovering just above the releagation zone. Batting first Rayleigh were all out for 196, Matt Williams (44), Callum Ginbey (33) and Phil Wollf (32) leading the scoring. They then bowled out the hosts for 176, Jon Cook taking 5-34 to give the team a very welcome win.

The 2nd XI were at home to Great Waltham 2nd XI and scored 224-7, Chris Frost (60*) and Danny Frost (33) top scoring. They bowled the visitors out for 100, George Barker taking 3-24, Shree 2-18 and Danny Frost 2-5.

The 3rd XI entertained South Weald 2nd XI and scored 263-7, John Stirk 69, Alex Jones 65 and Tony Catling a whirlwind 41 making the main contibution. This score looked too low, however, when South Weald were 190-1 but tight bowling by Richard Mantell 3-42 and Mark Acraman 3-59 made for a tight finish with the visitors needing 13 off the last over to win. They fell short on 259-8 to give Rayleigh a win by 4 runs.

The 4th XI travelled to Galleywood 2nd XI and batted first scored 195, John Wright (52) and Brad Walker (46) leading the scoring. The hosts passed this total fairly easily for the loss of three wickets.

The 5th XI played Bentley 4th XI and batting first were all out for 153, Shaun Grob scoring 40 and Frank Tennyson 34. Bentley passed this score for the loss of 4 wickets.

The Saturday 6th XI Eagles travelled to Chelmsford 6th who batted first and scored 191, Phil Hammond taking 4-30 and Max Jones 2-16. Despite scores of 43 from Neil Dobson and 40 from Alan Brown the game looked lost when the team collapsed to 138-9 but an unbeaten stand of 54 by Matt Dobson 29* and Sam Verrinder 27* saw Rayleigh home by 1 wicket.

 

The Saturday 6th XI Dragons entertained Stanford-le-Hope 5th XI. The visitors batted first and struggled to an all out total of 117, Luke Sullivan 3-10 and David Hall 2-17 leading the wicket takers. In reply Rayleigh were never up with the run rate and collapsed to 76 all out, only Luke Sulivan and Steven Lynch offering any resistance.

The Women & Girls XI batted first against Old Chelmsfordians and scored 112-4, Rebecca Holyoak scoring 27 retired, Michelle King 25* and Kelly Castle 19. OC’s scored 105-8 in reply, Jodie Bilett taking 3-18 and Kelly Castle 2-20 to give the team a fourth league win this season.

Warsop T20 league. Rankins 145-3, Rayleigh Evening XI 127 all out Jon Wall 54. Rankins won by 44 runs.

Warsop Sunday League The Sunday XI played Essex Carriers who batted first and scored 219-8, Adam Dudmish taking 4-48. In reply Rayleigh scored 116 all out, Callum Ginbey 40 top scoring.

Belhus Under15  119-9, Christian Humphries 2-12, Owen Davies 3-29 Rayleigh U15A 95-9 Christian Humphries 35 retired. Belhus won by 24 runs.

Rayleigh U15B 79 all out. Thurrock 80-5 Thurrock won by 5 wickets.

 

Rayleigh Under13A 116, Max Jones 28*. Leigh Under 13 107 having been 77-3 after 12 overs. Rayleigh won by 9 runs.    

Rayleigh Under13A 117-2, Steven Lynch 27* Matt Dobson 26*. Westcliff 85-7. Rayleigh won by 32 runs.

Rayleigh Fairview 126-4, Rayleigh Under13B 91 all out Harry Donoghue 17. Rayleigh Fairview won by 35 runs.

Westcliff 292-3 net 277 Rayleigh Under 11A 278-6 net score 248. Westcliff won by 25 runs

Twelve wins but 1st XI lose again and three other defeats

Bottom of the league Old Chelmsfordians were the visitors to Rawreth Lane and batting first totalled 191-9 again helped by a number of dropped catches, Mike Walsh taking 4-50. In yet another disappointing performance with the bat, the 1st XI were bowled out for 148, Matt Williams (43) top scoring. As a result Rayleigh replace OCs at the bottom of the table.

The 2nd XI match visited Rayleigh Fairview 2nd XI and batted first scoring 155-6, Chris Frost scoring 69*. Fairview scored 131-6 in reply, George Barker taking 3-45.

The 3rd XI went to Bentley 3rd XI and batting first scored 233-8, Richard Verrinder (75) and Alex Jones (47) top scoring. In reply the hosts scored 162-9, Paul Davies taking 4-34 and Adam Dudmish 3-39.

The 4th XI entertained Old Chelmsfordians 4th XI and batted first, John Wright (36), Matt Walker (34) and Nathan Healey (31) leading the scoring. and scored 162-5. The visitors scored 141, Mark Acraman taking 6-22.

Dropped catches cost the 5th XI dear when Little Baddow 3rd XI batted and scored 196-5. Rayleigh scored 153-7, Adam Keeley (81*) again top scoring .

The Saturday 6th XI Eagles travelled to West Mersea who batted first and scored 122, Sam Verrinder taking 3-13. Rayleigh passed this total for the loss of 3 wickets, Chris Slough (44) and Tom Peppiatt (23) leading the scoring.

Accurate bowling resticted the home side to an all out total of 64, Phil Hammond taking 3-13 and Luke Sullivan 2-6. Rayleigh struggled in reply but eventually reached 65-7, Murray Hall (21) leading the scoring.

The Sunday XI entertained New Calypsonians and batted first scoring 140 all out, Jason Ox 5o, Ian Bryant 27, steve Elsdon 27. New Calypsonians 137 all out, Ian Bryant 5-28, Liam Druce 3-29.

The Women & Girls XI batted first against visitors Maldon and scored 102all out, Rebecca Holyoak scoring 38 and Clare Fallis 22. Maldon scored 87-9 in reply, Sophie Lennox taking 2-9 off 4 overs to give the team a third league win this season.
