Wins for the 2nd, 4th and 6th Rayleigh teams in the T Rippon Mid Essex League.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  Saturday saw the visit of top of the table Springfield 1st XI for the fourth League fixture this season and batting first the Rayleigh 1st XI innings, anchored by Ben Francis (82), got away to an excellent start and at 128-1 looked in position to set a challenging target for the visitors. Disappointingly another mid order collapse saw them finish on 161 all out, which score Springfield passed for the loss of 7 wickets in the 34th over with Ian Bryant taking 4-46.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI travelled to Bentley 2nd XI and batting first scored 262-6, Matt Lennox (80) and Chris Frost (52*) putting on 140 in 15 overs supported by Dan Frost (42) and Steve Lynch (35). They then bowled the home side out for 132, Paul Davies taking 3-22 and Dan Frost 3-30.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. Weakened by poor availability the 3rd XI visited Little Baddow and batting first scored 150-8, Steve Adams (48), Simon Harwood (28) and Neil Noble (27) leading the scoring. The home side passed the target for the loss of 2 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI entertained Danbury, and batting first scored 252-3. Rolling back the years Phil Wolff opened the innings and carried his bat for 132 not out from 132 balls and was well supported by Brad Walker (38) and John Wright (35*). They then bowled the visitors out for 178, 13 year old Adam Sullivan taking 4-49 and (the somewhat older) John Wright 3-40.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI hosted a strong Rayne 2nd XI who batted first and totalled 184-10, Mark Stratton taking 4-22. In reply Rayleigh started well with Paul Spratt scoring 59 but with overs to spare the innings fell away to 167 all out to lose by 17 runs.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI visited bottom of the table Boreham 2nd XI and batting first rattled up 229-4, Toby Turner (74) and Andy Lynch (71) featuring in a partnership of 129.  The home side were bowled out for 115, Dave Turner taking 4-14 and Rebecca Holyoak 3-17.

Report of week ending 21 August http://rayleighcricketclub.org.uk/index.php/news/767-report-of-week-ending-21-august http://rayleighcricketclub.org.uk/index.php/news/767-report-of-week-ending-21-august

One win and five losses (one by default) for the Rayleigh teams in the T Rippon Mid Essex League.

The holiday season certainly took its toll on Saturday at the club with an unprecedented level of non-availability and a number of players playing two or even three teams above their normal level.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI travelled to Great Baddow 1st XI and bowled the home side out for 129, Liam Druce taking 4-43. This target should have been well within reach but on an indifferent pitch the team subsided to an all out total of 104 only Ian Turnbull (29) offering any real resistance.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI entertained Tillingham 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 151 having been 128-3, Colin Mayor (48) and Sam Verrinder (33) leading the scoring. The visitors passed this score for the loss of 3 wickets in 36th over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI hosted Brookweald 2nd XI and batting first scored 165-10, Tony Catling (74) leading the scoring. The visitors passed the target with loss of 4 wickets, Simon Harwood taking 2-0 in his only over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI went to Boreham 1st XI, and batting first were bowled out for 146, Kelly Castle (34) and Duncan Baldwin (31) top scoring.  The home side passed the target for the loss of 4 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI went to Beaulieu Park to play Wickham 2nd XI and batting first amassed 264-6, Mark Stratton (104), Matt Verrinder (36) and Aby Jose (30*). The home side made a spirited effort to chase down this total but ended on 235-7 to give the Club its only victory this weekend.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI were due to play Goresbrook 4th XI but due to the very poor availability were unable to raise enough players to fulfil the fixture.

A better weekend with four wins and two defeats for the Saturday league sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  Saturday saw the visit of Old Chelmsfordians 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 105, skipper Matt Gilmore taking a career best 7-23.  Rayleigh passed this score for the loss of six wickets, Jon Cook top scoring with 38.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI went to play neighbours Rayleigh Fairview 1st XI in a game to decide bottom place in the Division.  The hosts batted first and totalled 166-8 in their 45 overs, Chris Frost taking 3-15 in 10 overs and Luke Sullivan 3-40.  In a tense finish with the scores tied in the 44th over the last Rayleigh pair scrambled a quick single to give the visitors victory by 1 wicket, Adam Krise scoring 47.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI visited top of the table Rettendon 2nd XI and batting first scored 218-8, Jess Walker (48), Mike Law (40) and Steve Adams (35) leading the scoring. The home side passed the target for the loss of 5 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI entertained a strong Noak Hill 2nd XI and batting first were skittled out for 99, which score the visitors passed without losing a wicket.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI went to Belfairs Park to play Eastwood 3rd XI and batting first scored 158-7, Andy Lynch (39), Mark Stratton (37) and Duncan Bond (24).  The home side found scoring difficult against accurate bowling and finished on 101-9 in their 40 overs, Mark Stratton taking 5-18.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI entertained Billericay St Johns 2nd XI and batting first were bowled out for 191 in the 40th over, father and son Dave Turner (66) and Toby Turner (25) leading the scoring.  In another close finish in a game played in a great spirit the visitors needed a 6 off the last ball to win but only managed a single to give the home side victory by 4 runs and maintain the side’s unbeaten record when captained by Rebecca Holyoak.

Four defeats for the top four Saturday League sides and two wins for the 5th and 6th XIs.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  Because of the reduction in the size of the Premier Division to eight teams the 1st XI have to play the top two teams in the League four times and they travelled to play Bentley1st XI away again. The home side batted first and totalled 290-8, Ian Bryant taking 3-30.  In reply Rayleigh were bowled out for 121 only Ben Francis (35) putting up any resistance to an accurate attack.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI hosted top of the table Writtle 1st who batted first and scored 269 -10, Richard Abley taking 6-44. Steven Lynch (42), Richard Abley (31), Craig Baird (26) and Matt Lennox (23) all chipped in to a final total of 183 to lose by 86 runs.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI were at home to Marconi and batting first were bowled out for 167, Steve Adams (50) top scoring.  The visitors passed this total for the loss of five wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI travelled to Beaulieu Park to play Wickham 1stXI, and batting first scored 178-8, John Wright (55) and Emily Smith (48*) top scoring. In reply the home side looked to be cruising to victory but a mid-order collapse brought about a tight finish with Wickham reaching their target with 2 wickets left and 3 balls remaining. Emily Smith (3-27) and Kelly Castle (3-32) were the pick of the Rayleigh bowlers

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI went to play Rainham 3rd XI in a top of the table clash.  The home side batted first and scored 199-8, wickets being shared around. Rayleigh were behind the run rate for most of their innings but a rapid 49 not out by skipper Phil Hammond saw the visitors home by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare.

Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI entertained Galleywood 3rdXI, who batted first and scored 136-7 in their 40 overs, Gary Bush taking 3-27. New member Raj (70*) led the home side’s reply and they passed the required target for the loss of 6 wickets.

The 7th XI went to Margaretting to play Galleywood 4th XI and elected to bat scoring 180 all out with debutant Jerim Joy (81) leading the scoring. The home side passed this score for the loss of 3 wickets, D Wicks scoring 90.

The Sunday XI lost in the last over to Great Waltham for whom Rayleigh’s Glenn Coleman scored 60 not out.

Report of week ending 31 July http://rayleighcricketclub.org.uk/index.php/news/764-report-of-week-ending-31-july http://rayleighcricketclub.org.uk/index.php/news/764-report-of-week-ending-31-july

Three wins, one by default, and three defeats for the Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  The 1st XI entertained Goresbrook 1st XI who batted first and scored 219-9 in their 45 overs, Ian Bryant and Jim Ewing both taking 3-40. Andy Impey (59) and Ben Francis (41) gave Rayleigh another good start and at 137-3 victory looked a distinct possibility but in a mid-order collapse only Liam Druce (23*) troubled the bowlers and the side fell short by 21 runs after 43 overs.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI travelled to Goresbrook 2nd XI and finished on 141-9 in their 45 overs, Chris Frost (40), Steven Lynch (31) and Anish (21*) leading the scoring. The home side knocked off the runs in 34.3 overs for the loss of 4 wickets Trevor Nunn taking 4-30.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI went to Rochford to play high flying Rankins 1st XI and batting first scored 205-8, Sam Law (53), Steve Adams (43) and Adam Krise (41) top scoring.  The home side passed this target for the loss of 2 wickets in the 28th over.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. Terling 2nd XI were due to come to play the 4th XI but they called off the game late on Friday afternoon because they were unable to raise a team.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI entertained Bentley 4th XI and bowled them out for 88, Mihir Patel taking 4-26 and Paul Burgess 3-8.  Mark Stratton (36) led the reply and Rayleigh won with 7 wickets to spare in the 24th over.

Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI travelled to play South Woodham Ferrers 3rdXI, who batted first and were bowled out for 90, Gary Bush taking 4-34, Freya Barnard 3-11 and Tom Godfrey 2-13. Any ideas that this low target would be easily reached was rapidly dispelled with Rayleigh collapsing to 16-5, however Toby Turner (26) and Gary Bush (15*) saw the visitors home with 3 wickets to spare.

The 7th XI entertained a strong Chelmsford 6th XI at Lake Meadows and invited them to bat. Chelmsford scored 257-6 in their 40 overs.  This score was clearly well out of reach for our inexperienced team but Duncan Baldwin, playing his first game for 4 years, carried his bat for 53 not out and together with Jack Himpfen-Jones (37) shared a 4th wicket partnership of 91 to give the Rayleigh score a degree of respectability to finish on 136-6.

Under 15 SEDCB West League. Horndon on the Hill batted first against Rayleigh Wyverns and scored 140-5, Andrew Moffat taking 3-31. In reply the Wyverns scored 104-7, Toby Turner scoring 36*.

Three defeats and three wins for the Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division.  Once again because of the reduction in the size of the Premier Division to eight teams the 1st XI have to play the top two teams in the League four times and they travelled to play leaders Springfield 1st XI away again. The home side batted first and at one stage were 86-5 but recovered to 251-9 in their 45 overs, Matt Gilmore taking 5-33. Rayleigh were bowled out for 195. Ben Francis (55), George Barker (46) and Jon Cook (31) leading the reply.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2.  The 2nd XI hosted Terling 1st who batted first and scored 191-5, Sam Verrinder taking 2-21. Kalpesh Patel (49*) and Ian Bryant (45) top scored to take the 2nd XI to a 5 wicket win in 40 overs.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI were at home to Billericay St Johns 1st XI and batting first scored 220-5, Steve Adams (56), Colin Mayor (40), Matt Williams (36) and Tony Catling (32*) leading the scoring. In a nail biting finish the visitors passed this total innings with 1 wicket and 1 ball to spare, Tony Catling taking 3-22 and Mike Law 3-28.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI travelled to South Weald 2ndXI, who batted first and scored 234-6. This total proved well beyond Rayleigh on this occasion and they finished on 137-9, Brad Walker (36), Matt Walker (28*) and Matthew Bumpus (21) top scoring.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI went to play Little Baddow 3rd XI and skittled them out for 59, Mihir Patel taking 5-13. Rayleigh passed this target in 14 overs for the loss of 1 wicket, Mark Stratton (42*)

Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11.  The 6th XI entertained Oaklands, who batted first and were bowled out for 79, Gary Bush taking 5-18 and Richard Mantell 3-18.  The home side passed the required target for the loss of 4 wickets.

The 7th XI went to play Westcliff 4th XI who elected to bat and scored 119 all out with debutant Lejoy taking 4-14. Rayleigh found scoring difficult against accurate bowling and after 17 overs were 41-6 but a 7th wicket stand between Joy (40) and Lejoy (27) brought Rayleigh back into the game.  Their departure left the game in the balance but the visitors squeezed home by 1 wicket.

During the week the Club had a very successful tour in East Anglia. Thanks to Mike Law for the excellent organisation of a most enjoyable week.

On Tuesday they played Garboldisham. Due to wet weather a two innings game of 15 overs and then 10 overs was agreed.
